Another update form the dev #5

Aug 17, 2020

Hey, all about a month ago the first invitations were sent out and closed alpha officially started.

In this post, I'd like to give you a short resume on the first round of closed alpha and some more information about the next steps.

It all started a little bit tricky with a problem with the email provider. I only could send 200 E-Mails a day 100 per Hour and too many simultaneously, which made me send out keys in batches.
But still in total 120 invites were sent out, and around 50 people used their keys. Some people only spent 15-20 mins in the game but 23 people spend over 5 hours of which 15 people spend over 10 hours and 3 People spend over 24 hours. To be honest, I've never expected this, in my opinion, there is still so much to improve and to implement. A lot of feedback came in, many good ideas for further improvement, and a whole bunch of bugs to fix. In the number of signups, they have slowed down a little bit in the last weeks but they have just passed 1100 sign-ups.
In Conclusion, people enjoyed their time, I got a lot of positive feedback and a lot of constructive feedback as well, I've collected in a private Trello board and will add to the Roadmap soon.

In the next weeks, I will focus on adding more test to the game's code to reduce the number of bugs and make it more stable. For all people having a tech background, current test coverage is at about 24%. I've also started abstracting some parts of the code to make adding new features like e.g. different missions easier. Also, I started adding new features and to extend some features. First to come are disk space limitations and CPU usage. These are coming first as the basis for other game features. As you might now viruses are already implemented in the game, just not findable right now, but these will be added pretty soon. They generate passive income and use up system resources on the system they are running.

Last I've got the feeling not to reach everyone who wants to get informed about the game, therefore I have set up a short questionnaire to better get to know you all. no worries it is completely anonymous and really short (just about 2mins) :)
